Good news. Raspberry Pi isn’t vulnerable to Spectre and Meltdown. Here’s why. They don’t use out-of-order execution, speculative execution, and branch prediction.

Oh, this is really interesting. The commentary about the popularity of the 3D printer at the Shenzen Maker Faire, the awards, and the demographics of those attending. More than 50% women, totally not the situation of the West. Also. makerspaces are well-attended over there.

Oh, this is really interesting. RISC-V can easily make it possible to get 64-bit on an embedded chip. However, there are a few missing things that need to be figured out first.

Lots of interesting news going on here. Mainly, that the HDMI review is complete and the design is being sent off of the factory for manufacturing. Second, the next Apple iPhone is causing price spikes in 0.01, 0.1, 1.0, 10 and 100 µF capacitors, probably because these are the components used within the iPhone which are being hoarded by iPhone manufacturers. The price spike is somewhere between a factor of 5 and 10. Also, DDR3 RAM is also experiencing a price spike.

So, are the EOMA Earth-friendly computing devices affected by this issue? Nope, because they use the ARM Cortex A7 core which is also not affected, as noted on the Raspbery Pi website.

Ah, yes, there is a branded website for this branded bug.

RISC-V has some very interesting things to say here. First of all, RISC-V is not affected. Second, by RISC-V being open hardware and peer-reviewed, it has quite the chance to learn from the lessons and mistakes of the older processors of times past.

Intel has a very PR-like response to the questions on the Meltdown and Spectre issues.

Wikipedia already has an article on Spectre. Indeed, it says that most ARM cores are in fact not affected.
